Denny Knight a native of Louisiana began his art and craft facination at an early age. Growing up with his grandmother Joyce Lee next door he had an active summer schedule. Mrs. Lee never worked outside the home and was intrigued with making things with her hands. Denny started early in sewing clothes for Apple Dolls and Cornshuck dolls. Together they learned how to pour candles, make lye soap, macrame, croche, knit, fry marbles for jewelry and with his grandfathers help make almost anything out of wood. One year they entered over 120 items in the local parish fair and received 67 first place ribbons and over 100 winning ribbons. There was definately never a dull moment in the Lee household during the summer months. This inquisitive nature of how things are made is what drives him today to create functional products from artwork.

After high school he left the small town and moved to the big city of Baton Rouge where he attended LSU and focused on getting a degree in Business. After LSU he began developing software for Corporate Clients including the Tech Grant for the Federal Department of Eduction. Teaching classes on Photoshop and Quark Express and working with facilities that provided active treatment for persons with disabilities.

In 1998 he moved to Mobile, AL where he partnered with Ron Rutherford in an online and physical retail store. He continued writing software for their efforts in the collectible industry with over 27 titles of collectible software. They partnered with Amazon in testing their one-click payment systems and their zshops. Lauched with Iwon and Inktomi as one of their development partners in their window shopping online. In 1999 it became apparent that their customers were searching for products that were missing in the current marketplaces. With the help of some technical alliances, their online business and retail store added a new element of producing what their customers were requesting at their location. The beginning was slow to start but, if you asked the right questions and remain focused you can create some unique items.

In the fall of 2000, he met and partnered with Sylvia Corban. Denny, a native of Louisiana brought a new direction for Sylvia's artwork. His expertise in printing fabric and creating functional products allowed Sylvia's artwork to come off of the walls and into different parts of people's lives that her artwork had currently not been able to reach. Today the list of products is approaching almost 100 different options. No matter what you are emotional about or what type of decor you like, they should have something functional and perfect for that.

Together they have created a complete line of functional art items that extend from the garden, to the bath and into the kitchen. Visit the collection of products online @ http://www.the-store.com
